Roses are the ultimate symbol of love and their beauty have inspired people for thousands of years. Throughout the years, the rose has represented many works of art, history and even warfare. Today, it is traditionally held as a way to showcase love and romance. And for this week’s DIY, we are getting into the spirit of Valentine’s Day by showing how you to design your very own batch of DIY roses, using not one, but two easy and affordable techniques. Not only do glitter roses look expensive, they also are expensive and sometimes end up costing a fortune for a large, beautiful bouquet. From Valentine’s Day celebrations to anniversaries to graduation gifts, glitter roses have always been a popular gift for special occasions. However, our tutorial will show a quick and simple way to create a lovely one-of-a-kind bouquet for your loved ones in no time. So grab your favorite roses in whatever color you’d like and let’s get started!

DIY Glitter Roses - What you will need 1

What you will need for the 1st method:

Roses
Extra fine glitter
Spray adhesive or tacky spray

1st Method

DIY Glitter Roses - 1st Method - Step 1

1. Hold the spray adhesive about two inches away from the roses and spray on a thin, even coat.

DIY Glitter Roses - 1st Method - Step 2

2. Sprinkle a liberal amount of glitter on the rose, making sure to get the top of every rose petal.

DIY Glitter Roses - 1st Method - Step 3

3. Shake off the excess glitter. After you have done so, dip the rose in the pile of excess glitter to cover any bald spots that the spray adhesive might not have picked up.

DIY Glitter Roses - 1st Method - Step 4

4. And here is the rose after you have finished the 1st method.

2nd Method

DIY Glitter Roses - What you will need - 2nd method

What you will need for the 2nd method:

Roses
Extra fine glitter
Tacky glue
Small paint brush

DIY Glitter Roses - 2nd Method - Step 1

1. Mix in equal parts tacky glue and water in a shallow cup.

DIY Glitter Roses - 2nd Method - Step 1

2. Take your paint brush and lightly brush the tips of the rose petals with your tacky glue and water mixture.

DIY Glitter Roses - 2nd Method - Step 2

3. Again, sprinkle a liberal amount of glitter on the rose, making sure to get the top of every rose petal.

DIY Glitter Roses - 2nd Method - Step 3

4. Wait 5 minutes for the tacky glue mixture to dry. This is how your glitter rose should look after you are finished using the 2nd method.

DIY Glitter Roses - Finished 1

And here are the roses side by side for comparison. Can you tell which rose is from what method? Although both roses look nearly identical, the rose using first method is on the left and the rose using the 2nd method is on the right. The first method is definitely for those who are short on time and want a quick and foolproof method. And the second method allows for more freedom in hand-painting precisely what you want. Both techniques are great and both work equally as well so we encourage you to choose the one that suits you best.

DIY Mason Jars - What you will need

What you will need:

Mason Jars
Candy
Panties
Acrylic paint
Chalkboard paint
Chalk
Ribbon
Small foam brush
Paintbrushes

DIY Mason Jar - Step 1

1. Remove the lid from the mason jar and place it on top of a paper towel or scratch paper. Using the small foam brush, cover it with a layer of chalkboard paint. If needed, you may go in a second time and paint another layer over it after the first layer has dried. Make sure your layers are not too thick, otherwise you may not be able to write over them with chalk.

DIY Mason Jars - Step 2

2. Take the outer rim of the mason jar and paint over it with your choice of acrylic paint. Depending on the finish and opacity, you may need two to three layers.

DIY Mason Jars - Step 3

3. Set the lids and outer rims aside to dry. This is how they should look after they have thoroughly dried.

DIY Mason Jars - Step 4

4. Fill your mason jars up with any candy of your choice. Since this was a Valentine’s themed DIY, we  decided to go with some Hershey’s kisses and Dove chocolate hearts. Also, grab a pair of cute panties that your loved one or friends would like.

DIY Mason Jars - Step 5

5. And here comes the fun part! Create a small bed of candy and stuff your panties in the middle. Fill the rest of your jar with more candy to the brim and cover it with the lid and mason jar.

DIY Mason Jars - Step 6

6. To wrap things up, use your ribbon to tie a bow onto your mason jar.

DIY Mason Jars - Finished

And there you have it! We don’t know about you but we think these DIY mason jars are definitely Pin-worthy! The chalkboard paint really adds an adorable touch to this little project and personalized messages onto the lids will really make this special for your loved ones and friends. We’re sure these will work great as gifts, decorations and even party favors for parties and showers. Not to mention, an even better surprise awaits them after they open the mason jar. As we like to say–eat some candy, take a panty!

Valentine’s Day Fashion Blogger Challenge–Maggie from Love Mavin

Can you believe Valentine’s Day is next week? In the midst of all the excitement surrounding the hallmark holiday, we could not be more ecstatic to unveil yet another new series for iLoveSexy Blog. Those of you who follow us on social media know that we are huge fans of fashion and follow style trends fairly regularly. One trend that has risen to prominence over the years is incorporating lingerie into everyday wear. With how forward fashion has come, lingerie does not only belong in the bedroom any longer. That’s why we have been asking bloggers and fashionistas to join our Fashion Blogger Challenge and style an outfit, using items from our website. This is a fun way to see the many different ways people interpret lingerie outside of an intimate setting. So without further ado, we would like to welcome our very first blogger who partook in our Fashion Blogger Challenge, Maggie from Love Mavin. Check out her post on how she styled the Be Mine Lace Floral Teddy!

fashion blogger challenge - 1

For a date night with her boyfriend, Maggie decided to go with a flirty yet classy peek-a-boo concept and layer the teddy underneath a stylish button-down dress. Perfect for those who want to straddle the line between conservative and sexy, this outfit makes for a fun date and leaves a little to the imagination. When it comes to layering, you can go one of two ways–tight fitting or loose-fitting. For example, tight-fitting would be pairing this teddy with a structured blazer. And loose-fitting would be what Maggie has done by incorporating dark chiffon material against the lace, giving it a great feminine touch.

fashion blogger challenge - 1

And you know what the best part about layering stylish pieces over lingerie? How alluring it is to slowly unveil those layers to reveal what’s underneath. Sometimes, more really is less. At least until the end of the night. Maggie was very pleased to tell us that this was boyfriend-approved. So ladies, take notes!

What did you think of Maggie’s outfit? Did you like the lingerie that she chose? How would you have styled the teddy? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to check out her blog for more fashion and beauty updates. This tutorial is going to be fast and easy and takes less than half an hour to create these awesome personalized and stylish wine glasses. DIY Etched Wine Glasses - What you will need

What you will need:

Wine glasses
Amrour Etch
Contact paper
Cutting board
X-Acto Knife
Foam brush or a small brush
Gloves (optional)

DIY Etched Wine Glasses - Step 1

1. To create your stencil, print out the design you would like etched on your wine glass. Cut the design into a small strip of paper and another strip of contact paper in the same size. Tape the regular paper on top of the contact paper and tape them together to the cutting board.

DIY Etched Wine Glasses - Step 2

2. Using your X-Acto knife, carefully cut your stencil out. Try to be as precise as possible.

DIY Etched Wine Glasses - Step 3

3. After you have finished cutting your stencil out, remove the tape and detach the contact paper from the regular paper. Your stencil should look something like this so far.

DIY Etched Wine Glasses - Step 4

4. Peel off the adhesive side from the contact paper and carefully stick it onto your wine glass. Make sure to smooth the edges down so none of the etching cream we apply later will be able to seep through.

DIY Etched Wine Glasses - Step 5

5. Put your rubber gloves on to avoid any possible chemical irritation. Take your foam brush and slather on a generous amount of Armour Etch on top of the stencil.

DIY Etched Wine Glasses - Step 6

6. Leave your wine glass to dry for around ten to fifteen minutes. After you have done so, run the wine glass under cool water to rinse off the Armour Etch.

DIY Etched Wine Glasses - Finished

And now it’s complete! Simple and elegant, the possibilities in personalizing these DIY etched wine glasses are seemingly endless and make wonderful gifts or party favors. You can add names or phrases to them or even draw out your own design if you really want to get creative. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any wine lying around but we think filling our glass up with Valentine’s Day candy worked just as well, don’t you think?

DIY Chalkboard Mugs for Valentine’s Day

Can you believe Valentine’s Day is coming up in nearly three weeks? Time has flown by so quickly this month and we have been busy here at iLoveSexy to come up with as many cute and creative Valentine’s Day DIY tutorials as we can. This week’s DIY tutorial is definitely going to be a fun one, as we will be working with something most of you probably have never heard of–chalkboard paint! Now chalkboard paint is pretty much what it sounds like. In contrast to regular paint, you can write on top of chalkboard paint with chalk. Cue the nostalgia, as we transport you back in time to your elementary school days of learning lessons off of a chalkboard. Sounds fun, doesn’t it? And your friends, family and loved ones will have even more fun doodling onto these DIY chalkboard mugs, which we will be teaching you how to create this week. These homemade mugs make adorable and quirky gifts and with a little coffee or hot chocolate, will be sure to warm the body and the heart. If you’re looking for something heartwarming and comforting this Valentine’s Day, then enjoying these DIY chalkboard mugs with your loved ones should be on the top of your list. And to accompany your homemade gift with any additional surprises, check out our website for many more options. Now let’s get started on our DIY project!

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - What you will need

What you will need:

Plain mugs
Chalkboard paint
Small foam brushes
Chalk
Black marker

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Step 1

1. Use the black marker to draw an outline of your design onto your mugs. Do  not worry about making this too neat, since you will be able to paint over it.

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Step 2

2. Paint a layer of chalkboard paint within your design. Try to make the paint strokes as even as possible. You will need about two layers of chalkboard paint to make your design opaque. If you make any mistakes, you may touch it up easily with a small amount of rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip.

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Step 3

3. Let your mugs dry for several hours. This is how your mugs should look like afterwards. To seal in the chalkboard paint and make it dishwasher safe, place your mugs in the oven at 300 degrees for 30 minutes and bake them.

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Step 4

4. After your mugs have baked and cooled completely, take a piece of chalk and rub a thin layer all over the design.

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Step 5

5. This is how it should look after you have chalked it.

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Step 6

6. Dampen a piece of paper towel and rub the chalk off.

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Finished 1

And now the DIY chalkboard mugs are ready to be written on. We thought it would be a cute idea to make our his-and-her mugs, which would make a charming pair of gifts together. But you can also give these mugs out individually to friends and loved ones. These mugs are definitely delightful enough to replace any old cup one would use for their morning cup of coffee or tea.

DIY Chalkboard Mugs - Finished 2

But of course, since this tutorial is all about Valentine’s Day, we couldn’t resist filling up our mugs with piles of candy. We are one month away from Valentine’s Day but that doesn’t mean we aren’t getting started on the season of love a little early this year. At iLoveSexy Blog, we are all about the handmade arts and crafts, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. For special occasions even outside of Valentine’s Day, there’s nothing quite like a handmade gift that everyone can appreciate. Even something as simple as this week’s tutorial on our adorable DIY heart t-shirt can be stylish enough to rock on a casual day. A classic fashion staple, it almost seems as though every girl has her own heart t-shirt in her closet. These heart t-shirts can be found in most clothing retail stores and are loved for their simplicity and whimsicality. But did you know how easy it is to make your own? While there are many different ways to go about creating it, we decided to experiment this week with heat transfer papers, which can be found at most local craft stores. Heat transfer papers are great for designing your own shirts and allow you to customize it any way you like. And this tutorial is not just for t-shirts, as you can design almost any kind of article of clothing such as tank tops, sweatshirts, camisoles and even lingerie. If you have a friend or loved one who would appreciate this, then stick around and learn how to create your own in just a few easy steps!

1. Trace a large heart stencil or a design of your choice onto a piece of scratch paper. Use scissors to cut it out neatly.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 2

2. Once you have cut out your stencils, decide on the placement of the stencils on your t-shirt.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 3

3. Place your stencil on top of the heat transfer paper and trace out your design.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 4

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 5

5. Lay your t-shirt on a flat surface with your designs laid out in place. Place a thin piece of cloth on top of the t-shirt. Make sure the cloth is not too thick, otherwise the iron will not be hot enough for the transfer paper to adhere to the t-shirt.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 6

6. Set your iron on a dry setting and press it on top of the heat transfer designs. Slowly move your iron for a couple of minutes around the designs and continue to press down. Make sure that the edges are secure. This may take several tries, depending on how hot your iron is.

Plain white t-shirts are a classic choice for when you want to go for a casual look, but a decorated DIY heart t-shirt adds a cute and feminine touch to it. The glitter heat transfer paper sparkles and shines against its simple backdrop, making it a cute choice for when you’re out and about. And you don’t only have to limit the designs to hearts as well. Our package of glitter heat transfer papers had several other colors included, and there are many ways you can design your shirt.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, the heart t-shirts will quickly disappear off the shelves from your favorite clothing retail stores.
