Valentine’s Day Fashion Blogger Challenge–Maggie from Love Mavin

Can you believe Valentine’s Day is next week? In the midst of all the excitement surrounding the hallmark holiday, we could not be more ecstatic to unveil yet another new series for iLoveSexy Blog. Those of you who follow us on social media know that we are huge fans of fashion and follow style trends fairly regularly. One trend that has risen to prominence over the years is incorporating lingerie into everyday wear. With how forward fashion has come, lingerie does not only belong in the bedroom any longer. That’s why we have been asking bloggers and fashionistas to join our Fashion Blogger Challenge and style an outfit, using items from our website. This is a fun way to see the many different ways people interpret lingerie outside of an intimate setting. So without further ado, we would like to welcome our very first blogger who partook in our Fashion Blogger Challenge, Maggie from Love Mavin. Check out her post on how she styled the Be Mine Lace Floral Teddy!

fashion blogger challenge - 1

For a date night with her boyfriend, Maggie decided to go with a flirty yet classy peek-a-boo concept and layer the teddy underneath a stylish button-down dress. Perfect for those who want to straddle the line between conservative and sexy, this outfit makes for a fun date and leaves a little to the imagination. When it comes to layering, you can go one of two ways–tight fitting or loose-fitting. For example, tight-fitting would be pairing this teddy with a structured blazer. And loose-fitting would be what Maggie has done by incorporating dark chiffon material against the lace, giving it a great feminine touch.

fashion blogger challenge - 1

And you know what the best part about layering stylish pieces over lingerie? How alluring it is to slowly unveil those layers to reveal what’s underneath. Sometimes, more really is less. At least until the end of the night. Maggie was very pleased to tell us that this was boyfriend-approved. So ladies, take notes!

What did you think of Maggie’s outfit? Did you like the lingerie that she chose? How would you have styled the teddy? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to check out her blog for more fashion and beauty updates. DIY Heart T-shirt for Valentine’s Day

We are one month away from Valentine’s Day but that doesn’t mean we aren’t getting started on the season of love a little early this year. At iLoveSexy Blog, we are all about the handmade arts and crafts, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. For special occasions even outside of Valentine’s Day, there’s nothing quite like a handmade gift that everyone can appreciate. Even something as simple as this week’s tutorial on our adorable DIY heart t-shirt can be stylish enough to rock on a casual day. A classic fashion staple, it almost seems as though every girl has her own heart t-shirt in her closet. These heart t-shirts can be found in most clothing retail stores and are loved for their simplicity and whimsicality. But did you know how easy it is to make your own? While there are many different ways to go about creating it, we decided to experiment this week with heat transfer papers, which can be found at most local craft stores. Heat transfer papers are great for designing your own shirts and allow you to customize it any way you like. And this tutorial is not just for t-shirts, as you can design almost any kind of article of clothing such as tank tops, sweatshirts, camisoles and even lingerie. If you have a friend or loved one who would appreciate this, then stick around and learn how to create your own in just a few easy steps!

DIY Heart T-shirt - What you will need

 What you will need:

Heat transfer paper
A shirt or any article of clothing
Iron
Scissors
Scratch paper
Pen or pencil

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 1

1. Trace a large heart stencil or a design of your choice onto a piece of scratch paper. Use scissors to cut it out neatly.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 2

2. Once you have cut out your stencils, decide on the placement of the stencils on your t-shirt.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 3

3. Place your stencil on top of the heat transfer paper and trace out your design.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 4

4. Once you have your design traced out, cut it out as neatly as possible with scissors.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 5

5. Lay your t-shirt on a flat surface with your designs laid out in place. Place a thin piece of cloth on top of the t-shirt. Make sure the cloth is not too thick, otherwise the iron will not be hot enough for the transfer paper to adhere to the t-shirt.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Step 6

6. Set your iron on a dry setting and press it on top of the heat transfer designs. Slowly move your iron for a couple of minutes around the designs and continue to press down. Make sure that the edges are secure. This may take several tries, depending on how hot your iron is.

Plain white t-shirts are a classic choice for when you want to go for a casual look, but a decorated DIY heart t-shirt adds a cute and feminine touch to it. The glitter heat transfer paper sparkles and shines against its simple backdrop, making it a cute choice for when you’re out and about. And you don’t only have to limit the designs to hearts as well. Our package of glitter heat transfer papers had several other colors included, and there are many ways you can design your shirt.

DIY Heart T-shirt - Finished2

As Valentine’s Day approaches, the heart t-shirts will quickly disappear off the shelves from your favorite clothing retail stores. However, you won’t have to worry about that if you make your own with our DIY tutorial. We love how this tutorial is a no-sew and we’re sure most of you know how to use an iron, so creating your own DIY heart t-shirt is very quick and easy to do. This takes less than half an hour to complete yet looks amazing when finished and is definitely something you can gift to a friend or loved one to show how much you mean to them. What are your thoughts on this week’s DIY tutorial? Are you in love with this DIY heart t-shirt as much as we are? What design would you create if you were to make your own? DIY Glitter Heels Tutorial

Shopping for the perfect holiday party outfit can seem daunting, especially with all the crowds and long lines you’ll encounter at any fashionable retailer nowadays. When it comes to picking out a dress, you will also want the right shoes and accessories to go along with it. Personally, we, at iLoveSexy, have been head over heels (no pun intended) over the sparkling glitter heels you can find at popular footwear retailers. They come in many different colors of silver, gold, pink and red and are absolutely captivating to behold. However, glitter heels can get quite expensive and will set you back a good chunk of your wallet, which you can be spending on other items anyways. That’s why this week, we came up with a simple and fun DIY glitter heels tutorial that you can do right at home with any pair of old heels you may want to renovate. We used our Pin Up Couture Black Bliss Pumps, which worked out wonderfully to create our version. And if you are interested in using a different pair, we have many other choices in our Pumps Collection. Whatever you decide to choose, you will be happy to know you are saving by creating your own DIY glitter pumps. Wear these to your next holiday party and wow everyone by leaving a trail of sparkle wherever you go. So let’s get started!

DIY Glitter Heels - What you will need

What you will need:

A pair of high heels
Extra fine glitter
Mod Podge (Satin or Gloss Finish should do)
Sponge brushes
Sandpaper
Scissors
Bowl or plate for mixing

DIY Glitter Heels - Step 1

1. Cut a piece of sandpaper that is small enough to fit comfortably on your hand.

DIY Glitter Heels - Step 2

2. Use the sandpaper to buff around the heels in circular motions. Sandpapering your heels will allow your glitter mixture to adhere to  the heels.

DIY Glitter Heels - Step 3

3. This is how your heels should look after you have buffed them. Do not worry about all the white marks, as you will be covering them up afterwards.

DIY Glitter Heels - Step 4

4. Dispense a generous amount of glitter and Mod Podge. The more glitter you mix in, the less coats you will have to paint over.

DIY Glitter Heels - Step 5

5. Use the sponge brush to thoroughly mix the glitter into the Mod Podge. Do not worry about the mixture turning a milky pale color, as the Mod Podge will dry clear and the red glitter will show through.

DIY Glitter Heels - Step 6

6. Paint a generous coat of the glitter mixture onto your heels, making sure to get every corner. Try to make your coats as even as possible.

DIY Glitter Heels - Step 7

7.  This is how your heels will look when it is in the process of drying. After it is dry to the touch, continue to paint on your next layer. Repeat the process until you have your desired opacity and the glitter has covered the shoe completely. We gave our glitter heels a total of 4 coats.

DIY Glitter Heels - Finished

And there you have it! Not only are these DIY glitter heels perfect for the holidays, they can also be worn anywhere you can party! Pair them with a black or white dress for a bright pop of color or even with your next Halloween costume. The red glitter reminds us of Dorothy’s Heels in The Wizard of Oz, which would look great with her costume. Or for those of you who are feeling like a princess next Halloween, these heels also go nicely with a Snow White costume. The possibilities are simply endless, which is why this tutorial is definitely something you will want to look into for the holidays.

DIY Glitter Pumps - Finished2

To design your own pair of DIY glitter pumps, you don’t only have to follow along our design. We’ve seen some gorgeous designs where others decorated the platform of the heel with glitter as an accent and left the rest bare. Others added glitter to only the stilettos of the heels for an edgy effect.

DIY Glitter Heels - Finished3

Whatever you decide to do with your gorgeous DIY glitter heels, you can trust that they are a foolproof way to sparkle and shine at any event. Glitter heels are fun, festive and even durable enough to withstand walking around. And if you ever experience any wear and tear with the glitter in the heels, well, you’ll know exactly how to repair them. We hope you enjoyed this week’s DIY! As you know, Christmas is just around the corner and we hope you have enjoyed the holiday-themed DIYs we’ve done over the past few weeks.
