Birds of a feather often flock together. And this week, at iLoveSexy Blog, we are flocking towards our lovely DIY feather headband that we’ve created for this week’s tutorial. Now that February is over, we will be entering  the spring of this year towards the end of March. Just like last year’s trend, feathers are going to be hot this year, which is why you don’t want to miss this week’s DIY. Our DIY feather headband is spray painted gold for a dramatic, rustic feel and pairs beautifully with gold lingerie. Headband
Feathers
Spray paint
Hot glue gun
Glue sticks

1. Spray paint an even coat onto the feathers. Repeat as necessary until you have the opacity you’d like.

3. Take a pair of scissors and cut the quills off the feather to make them more pliable when gluing them against the headband.

4. Dispense the hot glue in sections and press the feather onto the headband until it is securely adhered.

5. Make sure to overlap your feathers to avoid any quills sticking out. To cover up any gaps, you may cut some of the feathers into sections and glue them over any exposed areas.

DIY Embellished Sunglasses

DIY Embellished Sunglasses - what you will need

 

What you will need:

Sunglasses
Embellishments (faux flowers, half pearls, rhinestones)
Hot glue gun
Scissors

 

1st Pair – Flower Embellished Sunglasses

1. Cut your fake flowers from their stems. Gather as many as you need to create your favorite design.

2. Dispense a small amount of hot glue onto the sunglasses.

3. Press the fake flower against the sunglasses and let the hot glue dry.

4. Take a rhinestone and apply a small amount of glue. Press it against the sunglasses. Repeat this step as necessary until you have your desired design.

1. Dispense a small line of hot glue along the top of the sunglasses. You may want to do this step in sections. Place your pearls on top of the glue and press it tightly. Wait for the glue to dry.

DIY Hair Bow Tutorial (No Sew)

2014 has finally arrived and we could not be more happy to welcome in the new year! We hope you have had a wonderful and restful vacation. Now that we’re back in the office and ready to begin the new year, it’s time for some big changes here at iLoveSexy Blog. The holiday season just came to a close and we have been brewing many wonderful ideas to help get you prepped for the upcoming Valentine’s Day in February. Now we know that Valentine’s Day is still many days away, but starting from this week’s DIY tutorial, we will be coming up with love-themed Valentine’s Day gift ideas! While people primarily like to spend money on flowers, chocolates and lingerie, we, at iLoveSexy, believe that the best gifts come from the heart. This week, we have created a tutorial for you to create these charming and dainty DIY hair bows, which will make wonderful gifts to friends and loved ones for the holiday and for the upcoming spring. And to make things quick and easy for you, we will be doing a no-sew method. So grab your favorite pattern and your other materials and let’s get started!
 

DIY Hair Bow - What you will need

 

What you will need:

Material of your choice
Alligator clips
Tape measure
Hot glue gun
Scissors

 

DIY Hair Bow - Step 1

1. Take a tape measure and measure out around 11 x 6 inches of fabric. Use scissors to cut according to your measurements.

2. Fold over a small strip on one side of the fabric. Use hot glue to attach it.

3. Once you have made the fold, this is how your piece of fabric should look like so far.

4. Fold over the top and bottom of the fabric and dispense hot glue to attach it. This is how it should look like after you have done so.

5. Take the edge that has not been glued and fold it over. Fold the other side over, making sure that there is a slight overlap and dispense hot glue to keep it attached.

6. Scrunch the bow evenly, such as you would when folding a paper fan. Each fold you create, dispense a little hot glue in the center to secure the pleating.

7. Cut a small strip of fabric a few inches thick. Fold it in half and use hot glue to keep it attached.

8. Wrap the small strip of fabric around the center of the bow, leaving a small space in between the bow and the strip. Dispense hot glue to attach it.

9. Once the hot glue has dried, you may take an alligator clip and slip it between the fabric strip.

There you have it! Aren’t these hair bows simply adorable? Perfect as accessories or gifts, these bows can be used in a variety of ways. If you’d like, you can even skip the alligator clips and glue them on a headband instead. DIY Studded Shorts Tutorial

While we are excited to start the new year, we are definitely looking forward to partying like rock stars on New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Eve is the time to get dolled up, put on your dancing shoes and paint the town with your closest friends. Choosing the perfect outfit can seem like a daunting task when there are so many different styles to pick from. We, at iLoveSexy, wanted to start off 2014 with a bang, which is why we came up with this trendy DIY studded shorts tutorial to help get the party started. These DIY studded shorts are fun, edgy and look great when paired with an eye-catching sequinned top. The best part about creating these shorts is that you can design them in many different ways to suit the style you are going for. Whether you want to go edgy and eclectic for a party or casual for going out and about, the possibilities are endless. So let’s ring in the new year and get started on our tutorial!
 

DIY Studded Shorts -  What you will need

 

What you will need: 

A pair of shorts
Studs
Pliers

 

DIY Studded Shorts - Step 1

1. Determine where you would like to place your stud. Make sure that it is aligned straight and not lopsided before pressing the stud into the shorts.

2. Press the stud through the fabric until both tines are poked through.

3. Use the pliers to bend the tines and secure them into place. They should be firmly imbedded into the material and should not be able to be moved or wiggled in place.

Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you have finished studding your shorts. Please note that you do not have to follow our design stud by stud and we definitely encourage you to search for other ideas for inspiration. While we have to admit that our design is quite popular, there are so many different ways to create a pair of DIY studded shorts. You can spread out the studs all across the shorts and not limit them to just the pockets. You can even stud the front pocket of the shorts for a rocker, vintage vibe. And don’t forget, you can also get studs in different sizes and shapes, such as stars.

1. Use pliers to pinch and flatten the earring clip so that they rest comfortably against the shoe when they are attached. Repeat this step for the other clip.

DIY Studded Bra Tutorial

Studs and spikes are a fun and trendy way to add edginess to clothing and it has been quite popular in the fashion industry over the years. There’s something so iconic about studded apparel, and it can really transform an outfit from drab to fab in minutes, especially in the winter. This week at iLoveSexy, we felt like tapping into our inner bad girl and we came up with this easy and affordable DIY studded bra tutorial. We’re sure you’ve seen this studded bra around in stores with various designs. But if you knew how easy to it was to create your own, you would definitely want to make your own DIY studded bra at home.  Adding studs to an old bra can really spice it up and it makes an amazing accent piece in a fierce and modern outfit. We made this with our Convertible Four Way Bra, which works great because you can wear this bra many different ways once you are finished. If you prefer something more demure and feminine, you can opt for this Demi Cup Underwire Padded Bra which has lace and faux leather detailing. DIY Studded Bra - What you will need

 

What you will need:

Bra
Studs (We used 1/2 inch silver studs that we purchased from Studs & Spikes)
Sewing stiletto (or anything that you can use to punch holes such as a razor blade)
Pliers

1. Take a stud and press it against the bra to make an indent in the material.

2. Use the stiletto to poke two holes where the stud has left its indent. If your bra’s material does not contain padding and is thin enough, then you will not need to use a stiletto.

3. Poke the stud’s tines through the holes you have created.

4. To secure the studs in place, use a pair of pliers to bend the tines down.

5. To make sure that the tines are as flat as possible, you can place the bra on a flat surface and press the flat side of the pliers to push down the stud.

Repeat steps 1-5 throughout the entire bra, with whatever design you want to go with. This is our finished product, after we have finished studding.
